These are the only commissions I am interested in doing. Dog portraits this size (18” x 24”) on this paper (Colourfix Coated Pastel Paper).
These are created by using acrylics, ink and a stencil I hand cut from an original drawing.
Framed and matted portraits are $800. Unframed are $600. Frankly, I would prefer you purchase them unframed. $200 will be enough (or close to enough) to have the art professionally framed. I don’t really like framing art. I realize though, that sometimes having to get art framed is a burden and may cause someone to not go ahead with the commission. So, it’s an option I am making available.
How it works:
-I will need to have a photograph for reference. Maybe you already have a great photograph or I can coach you through getting the reference picture I need. If your dog is a purebred, between your photos and images from the internet I can probably draw the portrait. I am not comfortable using professional photographs as that is someone else’s art. If you are in the Twin Cities metro, I can meet up with you and take the photos as well.
-Together we pick the background color from the 16 colors available. We want the color to compliment your dog and your home’s décor.
-I make the drawing/ stencil proof and get your approval.
-I get going on the art. If I have this option available here on my website, that means I feel I can complete the portrait within 30 days of the proof being approved.
-I will need a $50 nonrefundable deposit to start (that will go towards the end cost of course).
If you have a dog that looks like Janet or Geppetto but another color, I can use these stencils that I already cut to make a portrait of your dog for 400. (unframed). That being said, I may use your dog’s stencil again (they take me around eight hours to cut) but I will never make it the same color/ with the same markings as your dog.
